The Battle of Sluis Van was an Imperial attempt amidst the Post-Endor Imperial power struggle to capture the vital shipyards at Sluis Van.
The Interim Ruling Council, based at Dreven and under the leadership of Grand Moff Ariak Caldny, saw it imperative to gain control of the New Republic's vital shipyards over the planet Sluis Van.
Caldny deployed a fleet under the command of Admiral Russel Canis to capture the shipyards, or if all else failed, destroy them or render them useless to the Republic.
Using a series of backdoor hyperspace routes, the Imperial fleet arrived in system and squared off against the Republic defense fleet in orbit. TIE Bombers tried unsuccessfully to run bombing missions on the shipyards, but Republic resistance proved too tough to topple, and the Imperial fleet was routed.
